Hi Gail,
Safe Routes to Schools is a Federal program. I don't think theGovernor would have much control over what happens to the grant moneyif it was sent back.
The money would revert back into the Federal Treasury with the SenateFinance Committee to decide where to spend it.
I think we should keep this project in place and hopefully DPW willwork with the residents of Evergreen Ave and Homestead Valley todesign us a street improvement plan that serves well for all whotravel this street.
I hope they will review proposed ideas like mine and others that weresent to DPW for review and consideration.
It's always hard to envision what it will be like when changes areproposed like this one on our neighborhood street.
It's also true that this street is relatively safe as is...it's justthat MHS wants it a little safer as the prefered route for it'sstudents to walk and bike to school.
I think it's safe to say that everyone involved in this sidewalkdebate has good intentions for a street improvement plan on EvergreenAve. It just has to be worked out like anything that needs to meet thedemands of the many being considered.
Respectfully,
Keith Garriott
